Critical Test Infrastructure Commissioned for Next-Generation Howitzers

Kayseri – The AIDCO MODEL 850ME-1200 Transmission Test System, developed for testing the X1100-5A4 cross-drive transmission systems to be used in the modernized Howitzers of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), has been successfully commissioned within the Kayseri 2nd Main Maintenance Factory Directorate.

The system was established to conduct both functional and durability tests of cross-drive transmissions with high precision. Following the installation process completed between August 6–20, 2024, software development work and initial transmission tests were carried out between November 11–18, 2024. After the required testing and integration processes, the system was officially accepted and delivered to ASFAT on February 28, 2025.

Thanks to the AIDCO MODEL 850ME-1200 test system, reliability and performance tests of the transmissions used in the new-generation Howitzers entering the TAF inventory will be conducted with local capabilities, providing highly accurate data. This will result in shorter maintenance periods in the field and improved operational safety and efficiency of the systems.

This infrastructure investment, considered a significant achievement for the national defense industry, holds strategic importance both in terms of enhancing domestic production capabilities and offering sustainable and reliable solutions to the Turkish Armed Forces.
